Puppet Masters FPL · 2026/27

The pre-season
predictions.

Twenty managers. Thirty-eight gameweeks. Months of planning, research and expert opinion, all eventually undone by a 93rd-minute consolation goal.

The rankings are based mainly on recent FPL percentile finishes, with consistency, longer-term record and Puppet Masters pedigree used where they genuinely add something.

Old success still counts. It just doesn't count as much as being good recently.

We start at the bottom.

20

Livin Saliba Loca

Ciara Sullivan

Previous finishesTop 71% • 54% • 79%Confidence: Medium

Ciara enters Puppet Masters with a clean slate.

Unfortunately, the three FPL seasons we do have are less clean.

There hasn't yet been the sort of finish that suggests an immediate attack on the top half, although three seasons is still a relatively small sample and joining a competitive mini-league can change how seriously people play the game.

Expectations, at least, could hardly be lower.

Prediction: 20th

VerdictA brutal opening forecast. Also the manager with the most room to make this article look stupid.

19

Managementisstress

Paddy O'Gorman

Recent finishesTop 70% • 80% • 58%BestTop 6%Confidence: High

There was a very good FPL manager here once.

A top-6% season and several strong earlier finishes prove that beyond much argument.

The problem is what happened afterwards.

Recent Paddy has spent considerably more time in the bottom half of FPL, including top-70% and top-80% finishes in his last two recorded seasons.

He manages a county U20 GAA team in real life, which does raise one awkward question.

Is actual management easier?

Prediction: 19th

VerdictTrusted with real players. Currently struggling with imaginary ones.

18

Reminder: Transfers

Garry Everard

Recent finishesTop 54% • 46% • 49% • 58%Confidence: High

Garry's recent record is impressively consistent.

That isn't entirely a compliment.

Four consecutive finishes clustered around the middle-to-lower half of FPL make him one of the easier managers to place, although an older top-22% season shows there is at least a higher level somewhere in the archive.

The team name may already contain the most important tactical instruction.

Prediction: 18th

VerdictReliable, predictable and probably overdue a reminder.

17

Primatarians

Paul O'Connor

Recent finishesTop 36% • 52% • 52%BestTop 9%Confidence: High

Paul has eighteen recorded seasons.

There is therefore no hiding behind sample size.

The career contains some very respectable finishes, particularly further back, but recent seasons have generally settled around the middle or lower half.

The experience is undeniable.

The evidence that another top-10% season is imminent is considerably harder to find.

Prediction: 17th

VerdictPlenty of history. The better chapters are getting slightly difficult to locate.

16

Southsank Redemption

Bryan South

Last seasonTop 25%BestTop 2%Confidence: High

Bryan's career contains enough genuine quality to make writing him off dangerous.

There have been top-2%, top-4% and top-8% finishes, proving the ceiling is considerably higher than 16th.

The problem is finding that Bryan often enough.

And then there is the Jonathan Walters captaincy.

-8 points.

Some mistakes fade with time. Others become part of the competition's cultural heritage.

Prediction: 16th

VerdictGroup Risk by profession. Captaincy risk remains under active review.

15

Declan's Team

Declan Moss

FPL historyNot availableConfidence: Very Low

There is nothing useful to analyse here.

No old ranks. No recent percentages. No suspiciously selected career highlight.

So 15th is less a prediction than the point where we eventually decided Declan had to go somewhere.

That makes him one of the biggest unknowns in the entire field.

Prediction: 15th

VerdictCould finish fifth. Could finish twentieth. The analysis department has absolutely no idea.

14

Outbreak

Martin Moran

Recorded finishTop 30%Confidence: Very Low

Martin's official FPL history begins last season.

Nobody believes this.

All we can actually inspect is a respectable top-30% finish, which tells us enough to avoid the bottom few places but nowhere near enough to establish his real level.

He did win the Puppet Masters World Cup competition this summer, so the competitive instincts clearly remain intact.

Prediction: 14th

VerdictHead of Compliance. Historical documentation unavailable. We assume all procedures were followed.

13

Karsaac

Debbie Kelleher

Puppet Masters titles2Confidence: Very Low

Debbie returns from retirement without any surviving FPL history.

Normally that would make prediction almost impossible.

Two Puppet Masters titles make things rather more interesting.

Wins in 2013/14 and 2019/20 prove she has previously been good enough to beat this league, even if there is absolutely no recent evidence showing what level she returns at.

As a tax consultant, the disappearance of records relating to previous winnings feels entirely appropriate.

Prediction: 13th

VerdictThe data is gone. The trophies unfortunately remain admissible evidence.

12

Greg's Spurs

Greg South

Last seasonTop 19%Confidence: Very Low

Greg gives us exactly one season.

Fortunately, it was a decent one.

A top-19% finish is comfortably strong enough to put him above several managers with much larger bodies of mediocre evidence.

It is not enough to know whether that's his normal standard.

One more season should tell us considerably more.

Prediction: 12th

VerdictPromising first piece of evidence. The jury would like another.

11

Seskofenderr

Scott Moss

Previous finishesTop 17% • 34%Confidence: Low

Scott has only two recorded seasons, but they're moving firmly in the right direction.

Top 34% became top 17% last year, and another comparable improvement would put this prediction in serious difficulty.

Some attention has admittedly been diverted towards alleged irregularities elsewhere in the league, particularly Brian Brennan's sudden transformation into a champion.

Perhaps the best strategy is to keep climbing while gathering evidence.

Prediction: 11th

VerdictImproving manager. Unofficial head of competition integrity.

10

Noisy Neighbours

Aoife O'Sullivan

Last seasonTop 2%Previous twoTop 40% • 24%Confidence: Medium

Aoife might be the hardest genuine prediction in the field.

The longer-term record is mostly mid-table territory.

Then last season happened.

A superb top-2% finish is considerably better than most managers here managed and raises the obvious question: one brilliant season, or has something genuinely clicked?

There isn't enough evidence yet to assume she has suddenly become elite.

There is more than enough to worry everyone.

Prediction: 10th

VerdictIf last season is the new normal, tenth is going to age extremely badly.

9

toby lads

Sean Moss

Recent finishesTop 10% • 13% • 17%BestTop 1%Confidence: High

Sean has been moving steadily in the right direction.

Three consecutive improvements have taken him from top 17% to 13% and now top 10%, while the older record contains several genuinely elite seasons.

There were some grim years in between, but recent Sean looks considerably more dependable.

He also has the advantage of decades of FPL history telling him exactly how quickly a good season can go wrong.

Prediction: 9th

VerdictQuietly improving and increasingly difficult to ignore.

8

Tzolis and Gromit

Christian Diem

Previous finishesTop 4% • 11%Confidence: Low

Christian's problem is not performance.

It is evidence.

There are only two seasons.

Unfortunately for everyone else, they are a top-11% finish followed immediately by top 4%.

That is an excellent start and easily enough to put him among the stronger managers in the competition, even if two campaigns can't carry the same certainty as a decade of good results.

Prediction: 8th

VerdictVery young, very little history and currently almost none of it embarrassing.

7

Puppet Parade

Damien Moss

Recorded finishesTop 4% • 12%Confidence: Low

Damien has provided exactly two seasons of recent FPL history.

Conveniently, both are excellent.

Last year's top-4% finish was also backed up by winning the Puppet Masters Cup, giving us more evidence than a single good overall rank.

There was apparently plenty of FPL before 2024/25.

Where those seasons went is nobody's business.

Prediction: 7th

VerdictRecent record spotless. Older evidence unavailable for questioning.

6

Mossiahs

Wayne Moss

Recent finishesTop 11% • 3% • 19%Best overall3,415League titles4Confidence: High

No current manager has a stronger Puppet Masters record.

Four league titles are backed up by some exceptional historical overall finishes, including 3,415th, 8,147th and 13,714th.

There was also a prolonged period when none of that history appeared remotely relevant.

A top-3% finish two seasons ago followed by top 11% last year suggests enough of the old form has returned to remain dangerous.

Prediction: 6th

VerdictThe CV remains impressive. Some of the best bits now require archive access.

5

Team name TBC

Paul Wynne

Recent finishesTop 8% • 7%Confidence: Medium

Paul's overall history is patchy.

The seasons that matter most aren't.

Back-to-back finishes inside the top 8% represent a substantial improvement on his earlier record and are strong evidence that the current version is considerably better.

Only the gaps in the history stop confidence being higher.

Another season at this level and fifth will look conservative.

Prediction: 5th

VerdictQuietly carrying one of the strongest recent records in the competition.

Agent Steel

Brian Brennan

Last seasonTop 1%Previous two recordedTop 12% • 45%Confidence: High

Brian produced the transformation of the season in 2025/26.

Years of respectable-to-forgettable FPL results were followed by a top-1% overall finish and the Puppet Masters title.

There have since been wholly unproven allegations involving paid subscriptions, YouTube experts and other suspicious sources of competent advice.

Scott remains focused on the investigation.

Unfortunately for the prosecution, the trophy is real.

Prediction: 4th

VerdictApparently paying people who know more about FPL than you do is an effective strategy. Who knew?

3

Garry's Players

Garry Wynne

Last seasonTop 3%Historic peaksTop 0.3% • 0.3% • 2%Confidence: High

Garry isn't the most consistent manager in the competition.

He may be one of the most dangerous.

Multiple finishes around the very top of FPL, including two extraordinary top-0.3% seasons, prove he has a ceiling very few here can match.

Crucially, last year's top-3% finish shows this isn't just an archaeological discovery.

There have been poor seasons along the way, but repeated elite performances are difficult to dismiss.

Prediction: 3rd

VerdictNot always reliable. Far too good at his best to ignore.

2

UtdYouthsBreakThruYr

Ronan Fitzpatrick

Last five finishesTop 5% • 6% • 5% • 6% • 2%Confidence: Very High

Ronan would be favourite in almost any other version of this league.

Five straight seasons inside the top 6% is exceptional.

Stretch further back and the record barely weakens.

Even his known habit of making more additional transfers than he probably should hasn't managed to derail the results, which is almost more annoying than the consistency itself.

Prediction: 2nd

VerdictA deeply irritating amount of evidence that he actually knows what he's doing, despite supporting Manchester United.

Saka Potatoes

Daniel Cullen

Recent finishesTop 0.4% • 4% • 7% • 2%RecordFive straight top-10% seasonsConfidence: High

Well, this is inconvenient.

Daniel arrives in Puppet Masters and immediately takes the favourite's spot.

His last five seasons have all finished inside the top 10%, culminating in an exceptional 56,235th overall last year.

That isn't one freak season.

It is sustained evidence of a manager operating at a very high level.

The comforting explanation is another FPL YouTube subscription.

The less comforting possibility is that he's simply very good.

Prediction: 1st

VerdictNew to Puppet Masters. Unfortunately, appears to know exactly what he's doing.

Final word

That's the considered view before Gameweek 1.

Daniel starts as favourite. Ronan remains the benchmark for consistency, Garry has the frightening ceiling, and Brian has the trophy everyone else wants.

By the first Saturday evening, somebody predicted 18th will be leading, one of the favourites will have captained a two-pointer and at least three managers will already be insisting they “weren't really taking it seriously this year anyway.”
